Hebrews 10:38 says, But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.

I`m sure I’ve read or heard the verse before, but yesterday when my dad, Pastor Danny Brown, preached his sermon he used this scripture in his thought provoking sermon regarding faith and salvation. I really liked how my dad drew the parallel of doubt and sin, and I’ve been thinking about that a lot. There is a strong connection. Pastor Brown said that we see this parallel in the beginning of the Bible.

To set the tone, Eve is in the garden and she is hanging out near the forbidden tree. Then slimy version Satan comes to her and the first thing he tries to do is to get Eve to doubt God`s words. And now to quote the devil. Not something I do often, but it`s important for this point. So, he said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” And it goes on. Eve says something like “yeah we can`t eat it or touch it or we`ll die”, and then he tries to and succeeds to trick her by filling her mind with twisted lies.

The lies he told her were that 1. She misheard God, 2. God is not good, and 3. God did not want what was best for Eve and Adam. Actually, Eve knew what God said. She and Adam probably had many conversations about it, but she chose at that point to give in to doubt. After she began to doubt that God was completely good it became a lot easier for her to try that fruit. Satan told her that God forbade (Sorry, but am I the only one that thinks there should be a better sounding past tense for this word?) anyway.. forbade her to eat the fruit because God did not want her and Adam to be as knowledgeable. To her that probably seemed unfair. Why can only God be like God? Well, it sounds dumb when I say it like that, but it made more sense at the time because the devil was right there and all. Well, she was making an excuse as to why it was ok to eat that fruit. As humans, as you might know, we tend to make excuses as to why we can do certain sins. So she has started to doubt what God actually said. She`s started to doubt that God is good and she`s started to doubt that God wants what`s good for her. Wow! That`s a lot of doubt. With all of those dark thoughts it`s no wonder that she ate that cursed fruit.

Ok, I`m finished with Genesis. Back to Hebrews. But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back. Pastor Brown began to talk about how Martin Luther read this scripture and realized that we can only be “righteous” through our faith in Christ. Although our actions are pleasing to God the Bible says that our faith alone pleases God and that`s what makes us righteous in God`s eyes so that we can have salvation.

This idea of faith and salvation has never so cleanly been unwrapped to me before. Jesus really does want our faith! And when we doubt, that`s when sin tends to occur. I`m going to continue meditating on this scripture and I encourage you to as well. I pray that God will see an increase in our faith as we wholeheartedly believe in God`s words.

Thanks Annie! I did work hard on this website. I did all of the graphic design and many of the ideas for this website are mine, but I`ve got to give credit to Hiro Sawane for doing all of the HTML labor. He did a great job.

Thank you for your post this morning too!

This morning, a few of the Proverbs really jumped out at me. They apply to my life to vividly right now, just wanted to share them.

Proverbs 18:24 “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
Jesus will always ALWAYS (Did I say ALWAYS?!) stick close to me, to you, to his own. He is faithful, even when we lose heart or lose sight of him. His nearness is deep comfort to my soul.

Proverbs 19:1 “Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse.”
Living poor is better than living a rich, faithless, foolish life. God’s blessings are abundant in a poor mans life, but for a rich man, there is never enough blessings to keep him content. Choose the “poor man’s” spirit, walk close to the Lord, and see all the blessings around you today!

Proverbs 19:11 “A man’s wisdom give him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.”
I struggle with overlooking offences sometimes. “I can’t believe he said that to me!” or “Why on earth would she do that? Doesn’t she know that hurt me?” But When patience takes root in my heart, and God imparts His understanding, I find that the offense isn’t worth beans. It’s not worth having a troubled heart, a broken relationship, or a bitter taste in my mouth.
Overlook offences, my friends. Set yourselves free from the bondage of unforgiveness, and live freely under God’s wise, patient, understanding ways. He will look out for you, don’t worry what others say or do. You are His, and He is yours.

I love proverbs! I`ve learned so much from it. Many men respect the thoughts of philosophers, but no man-made philosophy even comes close to the depth of Proverbs. Next to Ecclesiastes it`s probably the deepest book on this Earth. Thanks for posting these scriptures!

  3. 孤独の巨人 Posted on 2013/09/24 at 3:05 pm

Here is the translation for 孤独の巨人`s post.

“Even when people are lonely there is a great unseen presence that can be felt.
      It`s Ok.
      Don`t worry.
I am by your side, so it`s ok.
I will be with you until the end of the earth.
Like the air we breathe, the love of a great presence surrounds us.
      We need to realize that.
      You are loved.
You are blessed.” – 孤独の巨人 (kodoku no kyojin)

      Respond to The Call…

“And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:9-10

There is a voice calling out in the wilderness, prepare the way, a highway for our God!! Can you hear the voice of the Spirit of God calling you by name?? He has called you to the salvation of His people. He has called you to go before Pharaohs, before kings, before mighty men to rescue His children from death. He is sending you! The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel is sending you!!! Rise up, respond to the call. God Almighty has heard the cries of the children of Japan, he has seen how they are suffering; he sees their brokenness. Prepare for battle, get on your knees, and intercede for this generation, because God has sent you to Japan for this one purpose. That you will bring salvation to His people through Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah.

Hi, anyone who is reading this.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33

God used this to help me a while back, but I wanted to post it because it`s encouraged me so much. Another one that has encouraged me is:

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58

Lord, I pray that you would bless those who are working hard for you and for your kingdom. In Jesus name, Amen!
